Eligibility: We have listed the Fund eligibility criteria on page 2&3. If you are unable to tick to confirm that your organisation meets each of the eligibility criteria, you will not be eligible for the fund. Please do not continue with the application.

Eligibility Checker

Eligible charities and social enterprises must: Be registered and based in the UK. Deliver their services and impact in the UK. Have a formal company structure/ be incorporated. Have a social object, asset lock and restriction on the distribution of profits written into their governing documents.


BAME= Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
BAME-Led =51% or above, of the board and SMT are from BAME backgrounds.

If the organisation is part of a Group, its turnover must be aggregated with the turnover of each other member of the Group. Group = when one or more companies are owned or controlled (directly or indirectly) by a single parent company.

If your organisation is part of a group structure, you must consider all companies in the structure when answering this question.

Trading activity = trading/ commercial activity that generates turnover (whether or not with the intention of making a profit). A not-for-profit organisation is a trading business for these circumstances. Organisations that receive the majority of their income from donations would not be eligible. Trading income = income from the provision of goods and services i.e. income from sales, fees, contracts, and service level agreements. It does not include pure grant awards, gifts, or donations (and gift aid), unless this income is in direct return for a good or service. By applying to the fund you consent to the sharing of your details (including name, contact information and organisation details – including organisational financial information, loan details) amongst the Recovery Fund partners for the purposes of managing the fund; the Recovery Fund Partners are Social Investment Business, Big Issue Invest, CAF Venturesome, Charity Bank, Key Fund, Social Investment Scotland, Resonance Limited, Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Create Equity and The Ubele Initiative (there might eventually be more).  Your details will also be shared with the investors of the Fund, and the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the British Business Bank (the Growth Guarantee Scheme (GGS) Guarantor) and their advisors, agents, contractors and auditors. Each organisation’s data policy can be reviewed on their respective websites. 


Your data will not be shared with any other third parties and will only be used for administrative purposes in relation to the fund and for its duration.
